No. 41 Ducks Tied for Fifth in Turtle Bay Opener

EUGENE – The No. 41-ranked University of Oregon women's golf team stood tied for fifth place with its 292 Monday in opening round action of the Turtle Bay Collegiate Invitational.
The Ducks' 4-over total was its lowest overall this season, and par-wise was just shy of its one- and three-over rounds of 293 and 295 in September's season-opening, par-73 Branch Law Firm / Dick McGuire Invitational.
On the team leaderboard Monday, No. 27 UC Davis led the 18-team field by seven strokes with its seven-under 281, and was followed by No. 38 San Jose State (second, 288), No. 10 California (third, 290), No. 8 USC (fourth, 291), and No. 41 Oregon and No. 1 UCLA (fifth-tie, 292).
Individually on the par-72 6,535-yard Turtle Bay Resort course, junior Kendra Little was tied for sixth overall with her one-under 71 Monday, while UO's three other scorers also stood top 25 overall – senior Kate Hildahl (18th-t, 73), junior Monika Graf (23rd-t, 74) and sophomore Ashley Edwards (23rd-t, 74) – and junior Erica Omlid followed two strokes back (43rd-t, 76).
Little's team-best score was her seventh in 10 rounds this fall, and 34th overall among her 76 career rounds. The Eugene native also enjoyed her sixth score of par or better this fall and 24th career-wise.
Glancing at the Duck scorecards, Hildahl had a team-high four birdies Monday on the par-3 #8 and 11, par-4 #5, and par-5 #7 holes, to go along with 10 par scores, and Little added three birdies (on the par-5 #4 and 17, and par-4 #18) and had 13 par scores. Two others each carded a pair of birdies - Edwards (on the par-4 #3 and par-5 #17 holes) and Graf (par-4 #13 and 18 holes) – and Omlid also had one birdie on the par-4 #1 hole.
Overall on the individual leaderboard, Alice Kim of UC Davis shot a 5-under 67 and led by one stroke over Cristina Corpus of San Jose State and Demi Runas of UC Davis (second-tie, 68).
