Beavers Take Civil War Rubber Game 8-1

PORTLAND, Ore. - Oregon State starter Jorge Reyes pitched seven innings of one-run baseball on Sunday afternoon, leading the Beavers to an 8-1 victory over Oregon in the rubber game of the Civil War series at PGE Park.
In front of 13,709, Reyes (4-1) surrendered just two hits and three walks to the Ducks, while dealing six strikeouts.
Oregon (11-14) was held to just three hits in the game, scoring its solo run in the sixth when Antony Kreitz crossed the plate on a RBI fielder's choice from Curtis Raulinaitis.
Three errors in the first three innings put Oregon behind 5-0 early on. During that stretch, the Beavers (15-6, 2-1) scored five runs, only two earned, on four hits and four walks.
Oregon State added three runs in the top of the fifth to extend its lead to 8-0 when Aldaberto Santos laced a two-out, RBI double down the left field line to score Joey Wong. Stefen Romero the came to the plate and hammered a two-run single to right bringing home Santos and John Wallace.
Romero finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Rob Folsom was also 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Santos was walked twice and finished his day 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI.
Oregon lefty Bennett Whitmore (1-4) took the loss, pitching one and 2/3 innings, surrendering four runs, only one earned, on three hits and two walks.
Zack Thornton, Ryan Fleckenstein, Geoff Nichols and Alex Keudell came on in relief. Keudell pitched the final four and 1/3 innings for the Ducks, holding Oregon State scoreless on one hit and one walk.
Danny Pulfer, Caleb Tommasini and Paul Eshleman tallied the Ducks three' hits.
Oregon returns to the diamond in two days, hosting Portland at 3 p.m., at PK Park on Tuesday.
