Oregon Falls at Stanford, 84-69

STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford's Landry Fields and Jeremy Green combined for 57 points in an 84-69 home win over the University of Oregon men's basketball team Saturday night at Maples Pavilion. The victory improved the Cardinal to 10-9 overall and 4-3 in Pac-10 Conference play. The Ducks dropped to 10-9 overall and 2-5 in league games.
Fields had a career-best 32 points on 9-of-15 shooting and 14-of-19 on free throws. Green was 8-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-4 on 3-pointers, to finish with 25 points.
The Ducks were led offensively by senior guard Tajuan Porter who went for 16 points, 14 of which came in the second half. Sophomore guard Malcolm Armstead added 12 points and matched a career-best with four steals. Fellow sophomore Jeremy Jacob came off the bench to score 11 points and add five rebounds.
Junior forward LeKendric Longmire had a team-best seven rebounds for the Ducks, who were out-rebounded 36-29 by Stanford. Fifteen of the Ducks 29 rebounds came on the offensive end.
Oregon had nine steals to Stanford's five, while both teams had three blocks in the game. Sophomore center Michael Dunigan had two blocks for UO.
Longmire scored four points early in the game, with the Ducks down 6-5 just over four minutes into the game. A 6-0 run by the Cardinal moved the lead to seven points at 12-5.
Jacob had a pair of buckets off the bench, and fellow sophomore forward Drew Wiley hit a 3-pointer to narrow it to a 19-12 advantage at the 10-minute mark.
Sophomore guard Garrett Sim hit a 3-pointer with 6:30 on the clock to narrow the lead to six points, 27-21. Stanford held on for a 39-30 halftime lead.
Ducks shot 37.0 percent from the field (10-of-27) and 25.0 percent on 3-pointers (2-of-8) over the first 20 minutes. UO went 8-of-11 on free throws (72.7 percent). Armstead had eight points and had all four of his steals in the first half. Longmire and Jacob added four points each.
Stanford, which shot 51.7 percent on field goals (15-of-29), was led by Fields who had 15 points and Green with 12 points.
The Cardinal went on a 6-2 run over the first three minutes of the second stanza. They built their lead up to 15 points, 49-34, with 15:19 left in the game.
Oregon got a spark from sophomore guard Teondre Williams who had six points over a five-minute span in the second half midway through stanza.
Stanford had a 65-42 edge with 7:49 on the clock, a 23-point margin which was the largest lead of the game for the Cardinal. Oregon powered back with a 13-2 run to cut the lead to 12 points, 67-55, with 2:41 remaining.
Porter hit three 3-pointers in the final few minutes to keep the game close, but the Cardinal hit free throws down the stretch to close the game with the 84-69 result.
Oregon (10-9, 2-5 Pac-10) will return home to Eugene for a pair of games next week. The Ducks will host UCLA Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. before closing the home stand against USC at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
