Ducks Hold On For 83-76 Road Win Over Huskers

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Four players scored in double-figures to lead the University of Oregon men's basketball team to an 83-76 road win over Nebraska on Wednesday evening. The Ducks improved to 3-1 overall with the victory, while the Huskers dropped to 3-1 on the year.
Senior guard Garrett Sim scored a season-high 20 points on 4-of-6 shooting, all of which came from behind the 3-point arc. Sim also went a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.
Junior forward E.J. Singler scored 14 points, with seven of those coming from the free throw line (7-of-8). Singler hit four free throws in the final minute to give Oregon the lead.
Senior forwards Olu Ashaolu and Jeremy Jacob finished with 12 points and 10 points, respectively.
Senior forward Tyrone Nared added nine points and a season-best nine rebounds.
Nebraska rallied from 15 points down with a 22-7 run, tying the game at 75 with 2:01 to play on Bo Spencer's layup. The Huskers stopped Oregon on its next possession, but Nebraska's Brandon Ubel was called for a foul and Singler hit his first pair of free throws to put Oregon back in the lead with 43 seconds remaining. The Ducks went 8-of-8 from the foul line in the final minute.
Jorge Brian Diaz scored 21 points to lead Nebraska (3-1). Dylan Talley scored 18 and Ubel had 15 for the Huskers.
The Ducks, who led 47-43 at the end of the first half, shot 49.1 percent from the field (26-of-53). UO hit 8-of-19 from behind the 3-point arc (42.1 percent), while going 23-of-32 on free throws (71.9 percent).
Nebraska finished 24-of-51 on field goald (47.1 percent) and 7-of-19 on 3-pointers (36.8 percent). NU made 84 percent of its free throws (21-of-25).
Oregon returns to action Tuesday, Nov. 29, with a home game against UTEP. Tip-time for that contest is set for 7 p.m. (PT) for a game televised by the Oregon Sports Network on Comcast SportsNet Northwest.
