SANTA MONICA, Calif. – The No. 10 Oregon volleyball team fell to No. 19 UCLA on the road, Friday, 25-18, 25-21, 20-25, 25-19.

How It Happened: The match was a battle of two high-powered offenses as the Ducks finished hitting .330 but the Bruins countered with a mark of .441. The Ducks could not keep the Bruins' outside hitter Karsta Lowe in check who recorded 10 kills in each of the first two sets and finished the night with 33.

After sticking with the Bruins to open the first two sets, UCLA found ways to pull away during the second half of each frame. After the intermission, Oregon came out firing. The Ducks took an early lead in set three but the Bruins responded by drawing level until a late 4-0 surge ended the set with Oregon on top 25-21. The fourth set mirrored the first two as a 4-0 Bruin run in the middle of the set gave UCLA enough breathing room to close out the match.

What It Means: The night marks the first of a string of highly competitive matches through the middle of the conference standings. Though Oregon has dropped two-straight, the Ducks will have time to respond beginning Friday at No. 18 USC before coming home to face a pair of ranked teams from Arizona. The grueling stretch for the Ducks will play a major role as the highly competitive conference starts to shake out.

Notes and Numbers: Frankie Shebby and Martenne Bettendorf led the team with 12 kills apiece…Oregon hit over .300 for the ninth time this season…the loss marks the first for the Ducks when hitting .300 or better.

Up Next: Oregon will face No. 18 USC Friday at 8 p.m. That match will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks.
