10/20/14 | Men's Tennis
STANFORD, Calif. – The ninth-seeded doubles team of Daan Maasland and Simon Stevens won their doubles Round of 16 match, but the pair fell in the quarterfinals to the No. 2-seeded team from UC Davis of Alex Adamson and Adam G. Levie 8-5.
Maasland and Stevens began the day by upsetting the No. 4-seeded team of Daniel Alameh and Marlon Brand of Pacific 8-7 (4). The two Ducks finished 3-1 on the weekend in doubles play.
"Simon and Daan did a very good job of coming from behind and the upsetting the No. 4 seed this morning," said head coach Nils Schyllander. "Unfortunately we could not duplicate it this afternoon as we were a little sluggish out of the gates and did not take care of our service games early."
Daniel Sardu and Joey Swaysland were tripped up by the second-seeded team of Emmett A. Egger and Jeffrey Hawke of Washington 8-3 in the doubles Round of 16. Sardu and Swaysland finished 2-1.
Next Up: The Ducks will be back in action at the Easley Memorial Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., on Friday, Oct. 31 to Sunday, Nov. 2.
