
Sardu Wins Singles Title at Larry Easley Mem. Classic

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Daniel Sardu claimed the flight one singles title at the Larry Easley Memorial Classic Sunday morning at the Fertitta Tennis Complex with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win over UNLV's No. 123-ranked Ace Matias.
“Dani had a great weekend putting together three three-set wins in a row,” head coach Nils Schyllander said. “Today in the finals he was able to keep it together from start to finish against a high quality opponent on his turf.”
Sardu is now 6-2 in singles play for the fall season after going 4-0 in Las Vegas this weekend. The title is the Ducks' first of the year.
Alex Marcinkowski ended on a positive note as well and defeated Meidy Chazeau of Grand Canyon in the flight two singles consolation championship match 6-3, 6-1. Marcinkowski finished the weekend 2-1 in singles play and now holds a 3-3 record for the fall season.
Jayson Amos played in a bonus match in flight one singles and won over Boise State's Brian Foley 6-2, 6-4. Amos now stands with a team-best fall singles record of 8-3 after finishing up 3-1 In Las Vegas.
Next Up: UO will hit the practice courts this week and prepare for the PNW Intercollegiate Tournament in Seattle, Wash., next weekend from Friday, Nov. 7 to Sunday, Nov. 9.
