
Amos Wins First Match, Drops Second at ITA All-Americans

TULSA, Okla. – Jayson Amos made it to the fourth round of Pre-Qualifying Singles competition at the ITA All-American Championships Sunday afternoon, but the sophomore was knocked out of the tournament by John Patrick Mullane of Michigan State, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
Amos began the day by defeating Nate Lammons of SMU in the third round, 6-3, 6-4. Lammons went 17-11 last season playing on primarily court four for the Mustangs.
Amos received one hour of rest before he was back on the court in the fourth round to face Mullane. Despite taking the second set, 6-4, Amos was unable to claim the first or third sets and was dispatched by Mullane.
Simon Stevens and Alberto Reyes both participated in Pre-Qualifying Consolation Singles matches as well. Stevens defeated Max Lunkin of Texas A&M, 6-1, 7-6 (3), and Reyes dropped his match to Penn State's Matt Berry, 6-3, 6-2.
Next Up: Daan Maasland and Kevin Farin are the last Ducks still to compete at the ITA All-American Championships. The pair will compete in Qualifying Singles tomorrow. Maasland's match is at 9 a.m. (CT) against NC State's Thomas Weigel and Farin will play at 4:30 p.m. against Ross Guignon of Illinois.
