05/03/15 | Track and Field
STANFORD, Calif. – It was quality over quantity for Oregon track and field at the Payton Jordan Invitational on Saturday, as a group of seven Ducks ran to six personal-best times.
Molly Grabill climbed up the Oregon all-time list with a big personal best in the women's 5,000, running 15:47.69. The time is nearly 50 seconds better than her previous best and ranks seventh in UO history. Maggie Schmaedick finished fourth in her section of the women's 5,000 setting a lifetime best with a time of 16:09.76.
Indoor All-American Daniel Winn set a three-second personal best in the men's 1,500, taking fifth in his section with a time of 3:39.76. In an earlier section, freshman Blake Haney made is outdoor debut in a Duck uniform, crossing the finish line in 3:41.27 for a personal best and a third-place finish. In addition to a pair of lifetime bests, the times would have ranked in the top 10 in the NCAA heading into the weekend.
Frida Berge finished fifth in her section of the women's steeplechase, setting a personal best of 10:19.21. The time moves the sophomore from seventh to sixth on the Oregon all-time list. Alli Cash looked as if she would set a personal best in the event as well until a stumble over a barrier slowed her down. Cash still crossed in 10:31.56, just one second off her lifetime best.
In the men's 5,000, redshirt freshman Jake Leingang set a personal best of 13:46.64, taking fourth in his section.
The Ducks will next compete at the Oregon Twilight at Hayward Field, Friday May 8, where there will be a special recognition for the Oregon seniors.
