
Ducks Advance at Penn Relays, Win Big at Titan Twilight

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon track and field team was successful in advancing through heats during the first day of the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Thursday, while a small group of Ducks remained at home and accumulated wins at the Titan Twilight at Lane CC in Eugene.
At the Penn Relays, the Ducks won their heats in both the women's 4x100 and 4x400, advancing to the Championship of America finals later this weekend. The 4x100 team of Danielle Barbian, Deajah Stevens, Hannah Cunliffe and Ariana Washington finished in 44.67, the second fastest time of the day. Later, Ashante Horsley, Stevens, Brooke Feldmeier and Raevyn Rogers finished with the top 4x400 time of the day in 3:36.66.
At the Titan Twilight, The Ducks earned six wins in the field events. Itohan Aikhionbare earned two of those with wins in the discus (163-11/49.97m) and the shot put (53-5.75/16.30m).
Madeline Middlebrooks represented the Ducks in the women's hammer throw and set a big personal best in the process. Middlebrooks threw a best of 184-8, topping her previous best by nearly 10 feet and moving up to No. 8 on the Oregon all-time list.
In the men's discus, Cullen Prena won the event with a personal best of 176-2 (53.70m) with Drake Brennan close behind in second at 175-1/53.37m, also a personal best.
A pair of Ducks went 1-2 in the men's shot put as well. T.J. Brassil won with a mark of 53-10.25 (16.41m) with Austin White in second at 53-0.25 (16.16m)
The team will be in action on Friday for the second day of the Penn Relays while a group will also begin the first of two days of the OSU High Performance Meet in Corvallis, Ore.
