
Ducks Finish Weekend With Season Bests at Payton Jordan

STANFORD, Calif. – The Oregon track and field team concluded a busy weekend with a group of distance runners competing at the Payton Jordan Invitational, Sunday night at Stanford.
The Ducks had four competitors in the men's 1,500, led by Blake Haney who competed in the fastest section of the evening. Haney finished sixth in an elite field of both professionals and collegians, setting a personal best of 3:40.46.
Just minutes before Haney finished, Sam Prakel won the second section of the 1,500 after making a big move with 300 meters remaining. The junior put a gap on the field quickly down the backstretch and held off his competition to win by more than a second in a personal-best time of 3:40.84.
Jeramy Elkaim and Matthew Maton also competed in the 1,500, each setting season bests. Elkaim finished seventh in his heat (3:45.32) while Maton took eighth in 3:45.67 during his first race in an Oregon uniform this outdoor season.
Molly Grabill and Frida Berge were in action for the women's team. Grabill finished 17th in her section of the women's 5,000 with a season best of 16:00.01. Berge finished 12th in the steeplechase, crossing the finish line in 10:25.03.
Jake Leingang finished the night with a big season best of 13:51.80 in the men's 5,000, finishing 12th in his section.
Oregon will host its final regular-season meet of the season, Friday, as collegians and professionals will come to Hayward Field for the Oregon Twilight.
