Ducks Fall to No. 1 Stanford in Pac-12 Opener

STANFORD, Calif. – The Oregon women's soccer team fell 3-0 in the Pac-12 opener against No. 1 Stanford on Saturday night.
The Ducks' record moves to 6-3-1 on the season and 0-1-0 in Pac-12 play. Stanford is now 8-0-1.
How it Happened: At half, both teams went into the locker room locked 0-0.
The Oregon defense impressed, as they held Stanford to three shots. The Ducks fired two shots and had one corner kick opportunity, while Stanford had four.
Junior goalkeeper Halla Hinriksdottir, who in the last game surpassed the program record of 356 scoreless minutes in goal, made one save.
In the 63rd minute, Tegan McGrady scored the game-winning goal from the left of the box, 25-yards out.
Two minutes later, Jordan DiBiasi headed in Stanford's second goal off a set-up header from Averie Collins and cross from Kyra Carusa.
In the 72nd minute, Collins scored the third and final goal of the night off a free kick by Andi Sullivan.
On the night, Oregon had six shots (three on goal) to Stanford's 14 shots (seven on goal). The Ducks had two corner kicks, while the Cardinal had six.
Sophomore Marissa Everett contributed two shots for the Ducks, while junior Mia Costa, sophomores Kyra Fawcett and Sofia Chambers and freshman Jessica Yu all added one.
In goal, Hinriksdottir made four saves. Her record moves to 2-2.
What it Means: The Ducks are now 6-3-1 on the season and 0-1-0 in the conference.
Tonight's scoreless first half echoed last season, as the Ducks fell to Stanford 1-0, ultimately giving up a goal in the 75th minute.
Stanford has not lost a conference opener since 2000, when they fell 1-0, in Seattle.
