
Balint Tosses Shutout, Ducks Defeat ASU

Oregon opened a three-game series against No. 21 Arizona State with a 4-0 win on Friday night.
EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 3 ranked Oregon softball team posted its third straight shutout with a 4-0 win over No. 21 Arizona State on Friday night at Jane Sanders Stadium.
Oregon is now a mind blowing 31-0 on the season. The longest winning streak to open a season in NCAA history is 35, set by UCLA in 1999.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Ducks scored twice in the second inning to take an early lead. Jenna Lilley had a RBI single while Lauren Lindvall tallied a RBI triple.
Oregon scored again in the fifth when Alexis Mack scored from third on a fielder's choice. The Ducks added one more run in the sixth on a Lindvall RBI single to left.
IN THE CIRCLE: RHP Maggie Balint was simply stunning. The freshman improved to 15-0 on the season after posting the shutout vs. the Sun Devils. Balint allowed no runs on three hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts in seven inning. At one point, she retired 10 straight batters between the second inning and the sixth inning. Balint now has a miniscule 0.88 ERA this season with 110 strikeouts and just 15 walks in 79.1 innings.
QUOTABLE: Maggie Balint - "We're going out there and we're throwing our game. It doesn't matter who we're playing or what time it is, it's game time. We have a really good high energy flow and we're excited to be out here as a team."
AT THE DISH: Lauren Lindvall drove in two of the Ducks' four runs and went 2-for-3. Alexis Mack and Mia Camuso also had two hits. Both Lindvall and Mack tripled in the game while Nikki Udria doubled.
