Notes: Ducks Host ASU at The Jane

The No. 3 ranked Oregon softball team will put its 30-0 record on the line with a three-game series against No. 21 Arizona State starting Friday at The Jane.

Notable: The Ducks are the NCAA's last remaining undefeated team with a perfect 30-0 record, shattering the previous program record of 18 straight wins. Oregon leads the NCAA, hitting .365 on the season and is second with a .461 on-base percentage. The Ducks are fourth in the country with a 1.04 ERA. Individually, OF Danica Mercado, SS Nikki Udria and OF Alexis Mack ranks 1-2-3 in the Pac-12 in batting average. Mercado's .489 average is sixth-best in the NCAA. Pitchers Megan Kleist (0.87), Maggie Balint (0.97) and Miranda Elish (1.36) all rank in the top-10 in the Pac-12 in ERA. The Ducks have 12 run-rule wins this season and 13 shutouts.

Notable: Arizona State is 2-4 in Pac-12 play after getting swept by Washington to start the conference slate and taking 2-of-3 from Oregon State last weekend. Chelsea Gonzales is hitting a team-high .380 with eight homers while Sashel Palacios is hitting .326 and eight home runs. Palacios was named Pac-12 player of the week after the OSU series, where she went 8-for-15 with a whopping six homers and 11 RBIs. Pitcher Dale Ryndak leads the NCAA, averaging just 0.57 walks per seven innings. She owns a 1.61 ERA in 61.0 innings. Breanna Macha has a 1.51 ERA in 74.0 innings while Giselle Juarez sports a 1.62 ERA in 56.1 innings.

At 30-0, Oregon is the last undefeated team in NCAA Div. I softball. Arizona, Florida and Florida State have all lost just once.

LONGEST WINNING STREAK
With an 8-2 victory against Stephen F. Austin at the Mizzou Tournament, the Ducks set a new program record for consuective wins with 19. The Ducks now have shattered the record with wins in 30 straight games. Oregon won 18 straight games last season, which matched the previous record. The Ducks also won 18 straight games in 2007.

- ASU and Oregon have both been ranked in the top-25 in 21 straight meetings, starting in 2010.
- Arizona State leads the all-time series, 55-44-1.
- UO is 11-12-1 against the Sun Devils under head coach Mike White, the only Pac-12 opponent White has a losing record against.

LAST YEAR AGAINST ARIZONA STATE
The Ducks swept the Sun Devils for the second straight year, taking all three games in Tempe last season.
- In the first game, No. 5 Oregon defeated No. 25 ASU, 10-4. Nikki Udria and Janelle Lindvall both homered. Udria had three RBIs in the game while Lindvall had four. Cheridan Hawkins pitched three innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks. Geri Ann Glasco pitched one inning, allowed three runs. Megan Kleist came on to pitch the last three innings and allowed just one hit.
- Oregon won the second game, 5-4. Geri Ann Glasco homered and drove in four runs. Oregon scored all five of its runs in a big fifth inning. Megan Kleist started and allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits in six innings.
- Oregon won the third game, 7-4, in eight innings. Koral Costa homered twice but Arizona State scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to tie it up, 4-4. Janelle Lindvall crushed a three-run homer in the eighth to give the Ducks the sweep. Kleist also started this game, allowing three runs on nine hits in 4.1 innings.
