Nuneviller Claims Fourth Pac-12 Freshman of the Week Honor
11/26/18 | Women's Volleyball
EUGENE, Ore. – After helping the Oregon volleyball team to two big road wins and a host bid in the NCAA Tournament, freshman libero Brooke Nuneviller has been named the Pac-12 freshman of the week for the fourth time this season, the conference announced on Monday.
Nuneviller earned the honor after totaling 43 digs (4.78 d/s) in Oregon's wins at No. 19 Washington and Oregon State. The chandler, Ariz., native also added two aces in UO's Civil War win on Saturday. The victories helped the Ducks place in a tied for second in the Pac-12, matching the best conference finish in program history.
Nuneviller finished the regular season second in the Pac-12 with 4.99 digs per set, and her 509 total digs this year currently rank eighth in UO single-season history. She also has double-digit digs in 22 consecutive matches entering the postseason.
Nuneviller's four Pac-12 freshman of the week awards are now tied with USC setter Raquel Lazaro, likely her biggest competition for the Pac-12 freshman of the year award.
The No. 15 seed in the NCAA Tournament, the Ducks will open up against New Mexico State at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Matthew Knight Arena.
