12/20/18 | Women's Basketball
EUGENE, Ore. – Junior Sabrina Ionescu set a new NCAA record for career triple-doubles and the No. 7 ranked Oregon women's basketball team defeated Air Force, 82-36, on Thursday afternoon in front of 7,967 fans on school day at Matthew Knight Arena.
The Ducks (10-1) held Air Force to just five points in the third quarter and nine in the fourth to pull away for the 46-point victory.
IONESCU'S RECORD: Ionescu tallied 17 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists against the Falcons for her 13th career triple-double, more than any man or woman in NCAA history. She broke the women's record of seven on Dec. 31 against Washington last season and came into Thursday's game tied with former BYU guard Kyle Collinsworth (12) for the men's record. This is her third of the season.
"My coaches had told me I needed one more rebound, so that's what I did," Ionescu said. "It's an honor, and I really appreciate all the support that I get from the fans, my coaches, and the community for doing that, but we play tomorrow so that's what I'm looking forward to."
