Ducks Cap Productive Weekend in Arkansas
01/26/19 | Track and Field
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Oregon track and field team collected eight wins Saturday on the final day of the Razorback Invitational. Combined with efforts from Friday's opener, the Ducks head back to Eugene with 10 wins and a handful of NCAA top-10 marks.
In the team standings, the Ducks came out on top in the men's race and second in the women's field. The SEC-heavy meet included teams from Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State and host Arkansas.
"Our men were able to come in and have a good overall performance across all event groups," head coach Robert Johnson said. "I thought this weekend showed that our training is pointing us in the right direction and we're excited about where that can take us as we start putting it all together.
"On the women's side, we continue to see some bright spots and strong performances but there are still areas for us to work on as we look toward February and the championship season."

Cook added more than a foot to her previous best with a mark of 13.60m/44-7.5 in the fifth round, the No. 2 jump in the NCAA this season.
Oregon swept the invitational sections of the mile behind the efforts of Hull and Cooper Teare. In the men's race, Teare stopped the clock at 3:59.21 to establish the No. 3 time in the NCAA this year. The Ducks picked up another distance victory from Charlie Hunter (7:59.88) who pulled away over the final 75 meters to win at 3,000 meters.
The Ducks' first win of the afternoon came from junior Hannah Waller at 400 meters. Running in the first section of the timed final, the Clovis, Calif., native turned in a time of 52.54 in her first 400 of the season. At just one-tenth off her personal best, the time is the current No. 2 effort in the NCAA.
Freshman Eric Edwards Jr. won his second 60-meter hurdles title in as many competitions. He was the top qualifier from the preliminary rounds and returned with a personal-best time of 7.69 in the final. The time makes him the No. 4 performer in UO history and No. 7 in the country.
