Seniors Lead Ducks at Delaware

Seniors Julia Taylor and Shannon Williams earned hat tricks against Delaware on Wednesday afternoon.
NEWARK, Del. – Despite hat tricks from seniors Julia Taylor and Shannon Williams, the Oregon women's lacrosse team couldn't keep up with Delaware, falling 18-8, at Delaware Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
How It Happened: The Fighting Blue Hens opened up the game with four goals, before Taylor and freshman attacker Carlie Leach scored back-to-back goals. Delaware responded with a 5-0 run to bring the score to 9-2 with 14 minutes remaining in the first period.
Williams assisted Taylor for her second goal of the game and went on to score two goals herself. Sophomore attacker Marlee Moon Gaddy also scored for the Ducks in the first half to finish with a 12-6 disadvantage to Delaware headed into halftime.
Taylor and Williams each scored once more in the second half, while the Blue Hens put up five goals for a final score of 18-8.
Notables: Four Ducks scored against Delaware… Williams led the Ducks with four points off three goals and one assist… Williams tallied her 150th career goal… Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Hall tallied nine saves… Senior Madeline Reece and junior Gracyn Elliott had four draw controls each… Elliott and senior Mandi Trostle had three ground balls each… Reece registered three caused turnovers.
