Game Notes: Soccer Opens Home Slate on Friday

Oregon hosts Portland State in the 2019 home opener Friday at Pape' Field (7:05 p.m., Pac-12 Live Stream). The home weekend continues with a match against Villanova on Sunday (5:05 p.m., Pac-12 Live Stream).
• Sophomore Jordan Wormdahl scored all three of Oregon's goals during the opening weekend of 2019. The Eugene, Ore., native scored twice against Fresno State and had one goal against Santa Clara.
• 2018 assists leader Zoe Hasenauer picked up where she left off, assisting both of Wormdahl's goals at Fresno State.
• Oregon welcomed the highest-ranked recruiting class in program history to campus this fall, and all 10 freshmen saw the field during the first weekend of the season. The 2019 recruiting class was ranked No. 17 nationally by Top Drawer Soccer, highlighted by top-100 national players Sakura Yoshida and Ally Cook. Cook, Yoshida and Croix Soto all started.
• The Ducks are coming off their best season in a decade after posting a 9-9-1 record in 2018.
SCOUTING PORTLAND STATE
The Vikings opened the 2019 season with a 3-0 loss to Oregon State on Aug. 24. Portland State also tied British Columbia in an exhibition, 0-0, on Aug. 15. The Ducks beat the Thunderbirds 2-1, also in an exhibition. This will be the first regular season meeting between Oregon and Portland State since 2015. UO assistant coach Cris Lewis played for PSU and graduated from there in 2010.
SCOUTING VILLANOVA
The Wildcats opened the 2019 season last weekend with a 1-0 win against Louisiana State and a 1-1 tie versus Saint Joseph's. This will be the first regular season meeting between the Ducks and Wildcats. Villanova plays at Oregon State on Friday night.
WORMDAHL FINDS NET THREE TIMES ON OPENING WEEKEND
Sophomore forward Jordan Wormdahl scored three times during Oregon's season-opening weekend. They were the first three collegiate goals for Wormdahl, who tallied 67 career goals for North Eugene High School.
HASENAUSER HELPERS
Sophomore midfielder Zoe Hasneauer led the team in assists in 2018 (five) and picked up where she left off with two more assists in the season opener against Fresno State. Hasenauer now has seven career assists, which is one shy of the UO career top 10.
IRON ALYSSA
Senior Alyssa Hinojosa has played in every minute in 2018 (1764) and 2019 (200). She has played in 2,066 consecutive minutes dating back to the second-to-last game of the 2017 season. In the last three years, the defender from Sylmar, Calif., has missed a grand total of 32 minutes of game action.
SIX DUCKS EARN FIRST STARTING NOD
Six different Ducks earned their first start during the opening weekend of play. freshmen Ally Cook, Croix Soto and Sakura Yoshida, sophomore Chai Cortez and junior True Dydasco all started for the first time against Fresno State, while Jordan Wormdahl earned her first start against Santa Clara.
HARDY COLLECTING GWG
Junior forward Eden Hardy had three game-winning goals during the 2019 spring season, and she continued that trend by netting the game-winner in the 82nd minute of Oregon's exhibition against British Columbia on Aug. 17.

WEEK 1 RECAP
Jordan Wormdahl scored twice in the first half as Oregon opened the 2019 season with a 2-2 tie against Fresno State Aug. 22 at the FSU Soccer and Lacrosse Field. Wormdahl also had the Ducks' lone goal in a 4-1 loss at No. 13 Santa Clara on Aug. 25. Versus Fresno State, Wormdahl struck from distance on the right side in the 26th minute to give Oregon a 1-0 lead. It was the first career goal for the Eugene, Ore., native and North Eugene High School alumnus. After Fresno State knotted the game at 1-1 on a free kick, the Ducks scored their own set-piece goal in the 42nd minute when Zoe Hasenauer took a corner kick from Mia Palmer and redirected it to Wormdahl, who headed the ball into the net past the diving Fresno State keeper. With the Ducks holding on to a one goal lead late in the game, the Ducks surrendered an own goal on a deflected cross in the 88th minute that tied the game at 2-2. Neither team found the net in the extra frames.
