EUGENE, Ore. – Setter Kylie Robinson earned the 2019 season's first Pac-12 freshman of the week award after dazzling over the weekend in her first two collegiate matches, the conference announced on Monday.
Robinson, who made her UO debut after redshirting the 2018 season, was stellar for the No. 11 Oregon volleyball team in the Oregon Classic, earning a spot on the all-tournament team after dishing out 69 total assists (11.5 a/s) to go with 13 digs, five kills (.833), three aces and two blocks.
The Upland, Calif., native was terrific against UC Irvine on Friday in her first collegiate match, directing the Ducks' offense to a whopping .507 hitting percentage with only three attack errors while racking up 29 assists. This is the first Pac-12 weekly award for the Ducks in 2019. Oregon won seven weekly conference awards in 2018, including four Pac-12 freshman of the week honors for Brooke Nuneviller.
The 2-0 Ducks, who moved up two spots to No. 9 in the AVCA rankings on Monday, will return to practice for a week before opening a two-week East Coast trip next week in Pennsylvania against a trio of top-10 opponents. Oregon will take on No. 10 Pittsburgh next Wednesday, Sept. 11, before going to University Park to take on No. 8 Minnesota and No. 6 Penn State on Sept. 13-14.
