The Ducks and Wolf Pack will meet for the first time since the 2012-13 season, as the Ducks look to extend their lead in the all-time series to 5-2.
UO is led by sophomores Grace VanSlooten (16.5 PPG) and Chance Gray (14.8 PPG) who are combining to average 31.3 points per game, or about 44.4 percent of Oregon's offense. Sofia Bell (11.0 PPG) and Phillipina Kyei (10.3 PPG) round out four Ducks averaging double figures.
LAST TIME OUT
Oregon suffered its first loss of the season Saturday, an 89-50 defeat to Santa Clara at Matthew Knight Arena. The loss was just the Ducks' second over the last 62 nonconference home games.
The Broncos blitzed Oregon with 12 3-pointers in the first half, helping Santa Clara build a 25-point halftime lead. Santa Clara scored 25 straight points over the first and second quarters, shooting 80.0 percent from 3-point range in the first half.
Chance Gray (11) and Sofia Bell (10) were the only Ducks to score in double figures, as UO was held to season lows in points and rebounds with 30. The loss snapped a 16-game home winning streak against nonconference teams.
SCOUTING NEVADA
Nevada has won two of its first three games to begin the season, defeating Pepperdine 64-41 in its last outing on Saturday. Against the Waves, three players scored in double figures, led by 14 from Audry Roden and 13 from Lexie Givens. The Wolf Pack held Pepperdine to 25.0 percent shooting from the field and 26.7 percent from 3-point range and did not allow a single player to crack double-digit points.
Nevada's defense currently ranks fifth in the nation in steals per game at 17.7, while ranking sixth in forcing 27.0 turnovers a game and seventh in turnover margin at plus-13.3. UNR's 23 steals against Sacramento State in its season opener were the fourth-most in program history in the NCAA era.
Nevada returns three starters and nine letterwinners from 2022-23 while welcoming in six freshmen and two graduate transfers. The Wolf Pack finished last season with a 10-21 record and in eighth place in the Mountain West Conference. Nevada was picked eighth in the MW's preseason coaches poll.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Tuesday's meeting will be the first between Oregon and Nevada since the 2012-13 season, when the Wolf Pack defeated the Ducks at Matthew Knight Arena, 77-73 on Dec. 9, 2012. UNR has won the last two meetings, but the Ducks lead the all-time series 4-2, which dates back to 1986.
UO is 1-1 on the road in the series, winning the series' first meeting in 1986, 93-68. Tenth-year head coach Kelly Graves has never faced the Wolf pack during his Oregon tenure.
