
Pac-12 Championships Begin Friday at Mt. SAC

The Ducks have eight scoring opportunities on day one of the conference meet.
WALNUT, Calif. – The Oregon track and field team opens its postseason Friday afternoon with the 2023 Pac-12 Championships at Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif. The conference meet begins Friday at 1:30 p.m. (PT) with the men's hammer and start of the heptathlon, followed by the first event of the decathlon 30 minutes later.

The schedule for the three-day meet includes various single-event live streams and broadcasts taking place throughout the weekend before an extended live show on Sunday (Pac-12 Network/1 p.m.).

Hampton is one of Oregon's four individual champions from last year, along with Lexi Ellis (triple jump), Alysah Hickey (long jump) and Micah Williams (100 & 200 meters). Williams will only run the 100 along with relay duties. Jadyn Mays, a two-time Pac-12 champion in the 4x100-meter relay, will seek her first individual title beginning Friday with the preliminary heats of the 200 meters.

Friday's slate will also feature opening rounds of the 1500 meters and 400-meter hurdles, and the start of the combined events. In addition to the javelin, Kinder is also entered in the decathlon.

The Women of Oregon enter the weekend as the No. 4 team in the country, and are one of six top-25 teams in this weekend's field along with No. 5 USC, No. 14 Utah, No. 15 Oregon State, No. 17 Stanford and No. 24 Washington. The UO women have 12 Pac-12 team titles in the program's history including last year's triumph at Hayward Field.

The UO women have Pac-12 leaders in four events: Izzy Thornton-Bott (1500 meters), Alysah Hickey (long jump), Jaida Ross (shot put) and Jorinde van Klinken (discus). In her first season at Oregon, van Klinken was a three-time conference champion during her career at Arizona State.

The Men of Oregon face a field that also includes six top-25 teams in 10th-ranked Washington, No. 13 Arizona State, No. 17 Stanford, No. 19 USC, No. 20 California and No. 25 Arizona. The UO men are the 22-time conference championships including the past 15 Pac-12 crowns.

The Ducks lead the conference in the 4x100-meter relay with the team of Williams, Ryan Mulholland, Xavier Nairne and PJ Ize-Iyamu Jr. The quartet posted a season-best time of 39.08 at the Desert Heat Classic (April 29) in Tucson, Ariz., a mark that doubles as the No. 10 mark in the NCAA.
