Saturday's meet is set to feature 50 UO entries including 14 newcomers.
EUGENE, Ore. – With an early December meet in the books, the indoor season resumes Saturday with the UW Preview in Seattle. The Ducks' schedule gets going at 8:40 a.m. with the opening section of the women's 3,000 meters.
Â
In addition to host Washington, the competition also features Oregon State, Stanford and Washington State. The final event of the day, the 4x400-meter relay, starts at 4:15 p.m.
Â
Having begun with the distance-focused Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston, the Ducks will be represented across all events with a scheduled 50 entries at the UW Preview. Maddy Elmore, off her school-record 3K performance at BU, is one of five Oregon women entered in the mile. That group includes Klaudia Kazimierska, the No. 2 performer in UO history with her time of 4:32.03 from last year.
Â
On the men's side, middle-distance standouts Matthew Erickson and Tomas Palfrey could match up in the 1,000 meters. Erickson was an NCAA qualifier in the 800 last outdoor season while Palfrey owns an indoor best of 1:48.38 which ranks eighth all-time on the program's 800-meter list.
Â
Jadyn Mays and Aaliyah McCormick, both tied for second at Oregon in the 60 and 60-meter hurdles, respectively, are both entered in their signature events. The women's depth will be on display with seven entries in the 60 meters. Prelims of the short sprint go off at 10:10 a.m. with the eight-fastest qualifiers overall advancing to the final at 12:15 p.m.
Â
Field action in Seattle will feature a pair of top-10 UO performers in Jaida Ross in the shot put and Mason Strunk in the weight throw. Ross established an indoor best of 18.23m/59-9.75 last season, a mark that puts her second on the program list. Strunk carries a personal best of 20.84m/68-4.5 in the weight throw, the No. 2 performance in UO history.
Â
Among the team's 50 entries, 14 newcomers—seven men and seven women—will be making their debuts in an Oregon kit Saturday.
