Ducks Fall in Four at No. 18 Indiana
11/14/25 | Women's Volleyball
Alanah Clemente, Valentina Vaulet each reached 300 kills for the season during Friday’s match.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Freshman Alanah Clemente led a quartet of Oregon players in double figures Friday but the Oregon volleyball team suffered a four-set road loss at No. 18 Indiana. With the result, the Ducks are now 14-11 overall with a 5-10 mark in Big Ten play.
Oregon won the first set but the Hoosiers responded for the 20-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-14 win.
Clemente tied for the match lead with 15 kills followed by 10 each from Sophia Meyers, Iva Sucurovic and Valentina Vaulet. Senior setter Cora Taylor registered her team-leading fifth double-double of the year with 36 assists and 11 digs. Sucurovic, in addition to hitting .438 on the night, also had five blocks.
How It Happened: Oregon won five of the first six points of the match, capping the early surge with an ace from freshman libero Reese Sheppard. The opening frame was tied four times but the Ducks never gave up the lead. With the score tied at 11-all, Oregon rattled off five of the next six points to take over momentum. The push was aided by three IU miscues.
Holding on to a two-point edge at 21-19, the Ducks turned to Sucurovic for back-to-back kills. She then teamed up with Marlee Arrington for a block to give UO a handful of set points. On the second chance to win the set, Sucurovic and Taylor got up for another block to clinch the 1-0 match advantage.
The teams stayed within two points of one another through the first half of the second set before the home team took a 15-12 lead at the media break. Indiana (20-5, 11-4) built a lead as much as five—up 21-16—but the Ducks pulled to within two late in the set after an attack error by the Hoosiers. Indiana went on to have set points at 24-20. Clemente saved the first but the home team evened the match on the next rally.
That kill from Clemente was her ninth of the match, and 300th of the season. She joined Vaulet at 300 after the UO junior reached the figure with her third kill of the evening.
The third set followed a similar pattern with early back-and-forth play before the Hoosiers crept ahead, leading 15-13 at the media timeout. The score was tied 12-12 before Indiana took over momentum on the strength of a 5-1 push. Like they did in the second, the Ducks stayed close and got within two three times down the stretch.
The home team went up 24-20 but Vaulet answered with a kill and then put in a tough serve resulting in an overpass kill for Holley McFadden. Out of a timeout, Indiana got a kill from Avry Tatum to win the set and secure the 2-1 match lead.
The fourth set was all Indiana with no lead changes. Oregon was hitting .326 through the first three sets but was held to a .034 mark in the fourth. No UO player had more than two kills in the final frame while IU committed just three attack errors and had five aces in the closeout set.
Jaidyn Jager led Indiana with 15 kills followed by Tatum and Candal Alonso-Corcelles with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
Up Next: The Ducks' weekend road trip continues Saturday at No. 9 Purdue (4 p.m. PT, B1G+). It will be just the sixth meeting between the two programs, and first played on the Boilermakers' home floor.
