Ducks Swept at No. 1 Nebraska
11/02/25 | Women's Volleyball
Freshman middle Holley McFadden had seven kills and hit .500 in Sunday’s match.
LINCOLN, Neb. — The Oregon volleyball team fell to top-ranked Nebraska Sunday afternoon at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Neb. With the result—Nebraska, 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-12)—the Ducks are 13-9 overall this season and 4-8 in Big Ten play.
Â
Freshman Alanah Clemente led Oregon with nine kills and two service aces, a fourth-consecutive outing with multiple service winners. Fellow freshman Holley McFadden put down seven kills while hitting .500 (7-1-12) against the Huskers. Sophia Meyers and Valentina Vaulet each had seven kills, as well.
Â
Defensively, Meyers tied the match high with nine digs for the Ducks.
Â
How It Happened: Oregon won three of the first four points of the match before Nebraska (22-0, 12-0) put together a run to take a 9-5 lead. The Ducks, however, steadied and pulled even at 10-all after back-to-back kills from Clemente and Vaulet. Oregon regained the lead with an ace by Clemente to go ahead 15-14 at the media timeout.
Â
The score was tied at 18-18 after another Vaulet kill before the home team rattled off four of the next five points for a 22-19 lead which forced Oregon to use one of its timeouts. Iva Sucurovic got her team to within two—Nebraska up 23-21—but the Huskers went on to close out the opener on a kill by Andi Jackson, her third of the set.
Â
In a reverse of the first, Nebraska jumped out to a 3-1 advantage in the second frame but just like that set, the Ducks tied things up at 10-all, this time on a kill by Meyers. The Huskers led 15-13 at the media timeout but Oregon came out of the break to quick surge to take a 17-16 lead. During the stretch, Cora Taylor had a second-touch kill and an ace.
Â
However, the Huskers answered with a decisive five-point run to take over the lead. Oregon fought off the first set point with a Clemente kill but a service error to start the ensuing rally gave Nebraska a 2-0 match lead.
Â
The home team used another quick start to open the third and led 9-4 to force Oregon to call an early timeout. The Ducks could get no closer than four through the remainder of the match—lastly at 13-9—as Nebraska pulled away and secured the sweep with an overpass kill from Rebekah Allick.
Â
Taylor Landfair and Harper Murray led the Huskers with 10 and nine kills, respectively. Sunday's match was played in front of 8,495 fans in Lincoln.
Â
Up Next: The Ducks host UCLA this Thursday (7 p.m., FS1) in the team's Women in Flight match.
