EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon volleyball team will close out its home weekend with a Senior Day matchup against Michigan State (1 p.m., B1G+). In a pre-match ceremony, the Ducks will celebrate the senior trio of Cora Taylor, Sophia Meyers and Maya De Los Reyes. Fans should be in their seats by 12:50 p.m. to see the Senior Day festivities. Oregon is 14-9 this season with a 5-8 record in the Big Ten.
Series History vs Michigan State
Sunday will be just the fourth meeting between the two programs with Oregon winning two of the three previous matches. Prior to last season, a straight-set win for the Ducks in East Lansing, the teams hadn't met since 2014, the same year as the only prior meeting in Eugene. Michigan State comes into Sunday at 17-6 overall with a 7-6 mark in Big Ten play.
Last Time Out
Alanah Clemente and Sophia Meyers each had a double-double as Oregon completed a season sweep of UCLA with a four-set win (Nov. 6) at Matthew Knight Arena. With the result, the Ducks have won the last eight against UCLA, extending the program's longest such streak in the all-time series. Oregon served up a season-high 12 aces including five from Clemente and two a piece from Reese Sheppard and Valentina Vaulet.
Service Pressure
Oregon is top five in the Big Ten with 154 service aces this season. Alanah Clemente is first in the league with 41 service winners and Valentina Vaulet ranks fifth in the Big Ten with 36. Reese Sheppard had two aces against UCLA—up to 11 this season—to become the sixth UO player with at least 10 aces. The team has five or more aces in 20 of 23 matches this season.
Playing at MKA
The Ducks are 6-3 in home matches this season with four wins during Big Ten play including Thursday's four-set win over UCLA. Oregon's win over then-No. 18 Minnesota (Oct. 17) was the program's 150th at Matthew Knight Arena. This is the Ducks' 15th year playing inside MKA with a record of 151-58, a mark that includes a 96-53 conference tally.
RPI Watch
Oregon (14-8, 5-8 B1G) checked in at No. 57 in Monday's release of the NCAA RPI rankings. The Ducks' next five matches are against teams positioned inside the top 40 including Michigan State (34). Oregon is on the road next weekend at Indiana and Purdue, followed by home dates against USC and Michigan.
