DUCKS ON THE B1G STAGE
A new dawn begins for Oregon Lacrosse this spring as the program enters its first season as a member of the Big Ten Conference. Competition will be steep as five of the Ducks' eight new conference opponents ended the 2024 season in the top-25, but Oregon heads into Year 2 under head coach Jessica Drummond with momentum after setting a new single-season program record for home wins (7) and securing its first winning season since 2017 a year ago. Conference play officially gets underway when the Ducks host Ohio State on March 13.
SUPER SIMMONS
Midfielder Anna Simmons made spectacular strides during her sophomore season, solidifying herself as one of the vocal leaders on the Oregon squad. The youngest of the Ducks' six team captains finished second on the team with 33 goals and led UO with 21 caused turnovers and will look to make another leap during her junior season, both as a second-year captain and in the stat sheet.
» Opened the 2025 season by scoring six goals, which matched her career high. Her six goals also tied for the most by any player in the Big Ten in a single game during the opening weekend.
» Set career highs in goals, assists (8), points (42), caused turnovers and draw controls (38) in 2024.
» Two games with six goals and five total hat tricks last season.
» Broke the program record for fastest goal, scoring in five seconds against Marist. Did so again against UC Davis.
GAME RECOGNIZED
Three Ducks have already garnered recognition from the Big Ten Conference. Anna Simmons, defender Lexi Jenkins and midfielder Avery Young were among the 27 players across the conference named to the Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch list.
» Jenkins started all 15 games for the Ducks during her freshman season and was an integral part of Oregon's increased intensity on defense. She started again to open play in 2025, earning three draw controls while helping achor the Duck defense. The 2024 Ducks held opponents under eight goals 10 times after doing so just three times in the three seasons prior, and UO opened the 2025 campaign by holding Butler to just six goals, all of which came in the second half with the Ducks up by double-digits.
» Young impressed early in her debut campaign, scoring three goals and adding two assists in three games before being sidelined by injury. She matched those numbers in Friday's season opener with her first collegiate hat trick and a pair of assists, all of which came in the first 33 minutes of play.
SCOUTING STETSON
Tuesday marks the third-ever meeting and first in Eugene between the Ducks and Hatters. Oregon won the first meeting in 2014, 20-3, but fell 18-15 in 2020 when the two sides last met. The Ducks are 4-4 all-time against teams from Florida and 2-1 when opponents from the Sunshine State make the trip to Papé Field.
Stetson finished 4-11 and 1-5 in ASUN play a season ago but are looking to form a new team identity in Year 1 under veteran head coach Sue Murphy. The Hatters also opened their season with a win over Butler, beating the Bulldogs 18-9. Kaitlin Pani (4 goals, 2 assists), Miya Scanlan (3 goals, 4 assists) and Kathleen Nichols (3 goals) facilitated the Stetson offense well to start the year, while Maddie Eckert made 13 saves in her collegiate debut.
