In their last outing, the Ducks nearly pulled off an upset of No. 58 Michigan State last Sunday, pushing the match to its final point in a 4-3 defeat. UO got singles wins from freshman Patsy Daughters and Young in addition to the doubles point.
For Daughters, the win marked her 10th singles win of the dual season to match Tilde Jagare for the team lead. Young is up to eight singles wins while playing every match at the No. 2 spot in the lineup.
Jagare and doubles partner Juliet Santitto have primarily played at the top doubles spot in the lineup this spring, picking up their sixth win of the season against Michigan State. Candela Aparisi and Souza also have six doubles victories this spring.
Twelve of Oregon's 13 Big Ten opponents have been ranked in the ITA's top 75, including both No. 32 Iowa and 73rd-ranked Nebraska. The Hawkeyes feature two singles players in the latest ITA rankings in No. 108 Daianne Hayashida and No. 119 Tereza Dejnozkova. Dejnozkova and partner Nikita Vishwase make up the 68th-ranked doubles pair in the country.
The Hawkeyes enter the weekend having dropped three of their last four matches, including a pair of losses last weekend to No. 22 UCLA and No. 16 USC. Oregon is 4-3 all-time against Iowa after a 4-3 win in Iowa City last season.
The Cornhuskers have lost three straight matches and four of their last five overall – all coming to ranked teams. Nebraska has claimed two of the three all-time meetings with UO, with the last matchup coming in 1995.
