
USATF Championships Begin Thursday at Hayward Field

More than 20 current, past and future Ducks compete over the next four days.
EUGENE, Ore. – The United States' best gather in Eugene, Ore., for this week's Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships. The four-day meet, featuring more than 20 current, past and future Ducks, will begin Thursday at Hayward Field.
Day one of the USATF Championships will feature four Ducks from this past season's roster including first-round heats for Jadyn Mays in the 100 meters, Elliott Cook and Evan Dorenkamp at 1500 meters and Benjamin Balazs taking on the steeplechase.
Balazs was the Big Ten champion in the steeplechase and went on to become the second-fastest UO performer in the event with his 8:24.46 at the NCAA Championships.
Past NCAA champions and Olympic and World Championship medalists will also be in action Thursday with Cole Hocker (1500), English Gardner (100), Jenna Prandini (100) and Raevyn Rogers (800). Shelby Moran, a two-time Pac-12 champion at Oregon, will compete Thursday in the hammer, one of seven event finals on the opening day of the USATF Championships.
Broadcast coverage of the first two days of the meet will be provided by usatf.tv (sub. required) with added coverage by NBC and Peacock on Saturday and Sunday.
The USATF Outdoor Championships will serve as the selection event for the upcoming World Athletics Championships (Sept. 13-21 in Tokyo) and NACAC Area Championships (Aug. 15-17 in Freeport, Grand Bahama).

Eric Edwards Jr. (110H) and Nikki Hiltz (1500), who both began at Oregon before finishing their careers at LSU and Arkansas, respectively, will also both compete at the USATF Championships. Peyton Bair, a recent UO signee and reigning NCAA champion for Mississippi State, is entered in the decathlon.
