
Warren Named to USTFCCCA Hall of Fame

The 12-member class will officially be inducted Sunday, June 7, at the Hult Center in Eugene, Ore.
EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon track and field legend Leann Warren is a member of the 12-person class being inducted into the 2026 USTFCCCA Collegiate Athlete Hall of Fame as announced Tuesday. Warren joins previous UO inductees Steve Prefontaine in 2022 (inaugural class), Dyrol Burleson in 2023, Bill Dellinger in 2024 and Joaquim Cruz in 2025.
Warren was a four-time national champion, 10-time All-American and former collegiate-record holder during her standout career in Eugene.
This year's Hall of Fame class will be enshrined Sunday, June 7, at the Hult Center in Eugene, Ore. The ceremony is free and open to the public, and will be held three days prior to the NCAA Championships (June 10-13) at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.

Leann Warren (Oregon, Mid-Distance, 1980-82, '85)
Warren won the first of three AIAW national titles as a member of the Ducks' mile relay, teaming with Melanie Batiste, Rhonda Massey and Grace Bakari for the win. That same year, she was runner-up over 800 meters. In 1981, Warren doubled up with AIAW titles at 800 and 1500 meters.
Warren was the 1982 NCAA champion at 1500 meters, becoming the first UO woman to win an NCAA title. She was also third in the 800 meters that year. In 1985, Warren helped the Women of Oregon to the NCAA outdoor title with third- and fourth-place finishes in the 1500 and 800 meters, respectively.
The Corvallis, Ore., native was the 1981 national runner-up in cross country which remains the highest individual finish for an Oregon woman at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. The Ducks were also team runner-up that year.
Warren's name remains present in Oregon's top-10 lists more than 40 years after her collegiate career ended, still ranking third at 1500 meters (4:05.88), third in the outdoor mile (4:30.36) and fourth at 800 meters (1:59.63). She was the first woman in program history to dip below two minutes in the 800 with her performance at the 1981 World University Games in Bucharest, Romania.
She finished fifth at those World University Games, and went on to earn a silver medal as a member of the United States' 4x400 relay.
This year's class amassed 44 national titles, 37 collegiate records, five Olympic/World Championships medals and seven world records during their collective college careers.
The Collegiate Athlete Hall of Fame was established in 2022.
