The previous UO record of 12.69 had stood since 2017 by Alaysha Johnson. McCormick, the reigning NCAA champion in the 100-meter hurdles, carried a previous wind-legal best of 12.74 and was coming off an all-conditions best of 12.43 two weeks ago at the Big Ten Championships.
The Ducks finished 1-2 in the event with De Mello winning the opening heat in a wind-aided 12.75 (+2.7) for her third-career appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, and first as a Duck. De Mello was third at the Big Ten Championships—12.63W—to open her postseason campaign.
Bovele-Linaka and Khunou secured the Ducks' first two national qualifiers of the day with their efforts in the discus. Bovele-Linaka, the Big Ten champion, had a day's best of 57.59m/188-11 on her first throw of the competition, good for fourth overall. Khunou, already qualified in the shot put, registered a measure of 56.16m/184-3 to lead off the second round of throws.
Khunou joins UO teammate Ben Smith as double qualifiers in the shot put and discus.
In the first track event Saturday, senior Lily Jones ran the Ducks' 4x100-meter relay into a qualifying spot with a strong finish on anchor leg. Jones, Brazil Neal, Amirah Shaheed and Lakely Doht-Barron finished in 44.40 for third in their heat and an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. Jones will cap her Oregon career as a four-time national qualifier with the 4x100 relay.
Cherubet clocked a lifetime best of 4:07.75 to lead a 2-3-4 finish for the Ducks in the 1500 meters, along with Nielsen and Ayyildiz, respectively. With her time, Cherubet becomes the No. 7 performer on the all-time UO list. Nielsen followed in a season's best 4:07.87 with Ayyildiz rounding out the NCAA-bound trio in 4:08.16.
Roughly three hours after earning her NCAA ticket in the 1500, Cherubet was back on the track at 5,000 meters with a season-best time of 15:28.61. That effort improved her already No. 5 standing in program history and secured a sixth-place overall finish for a second national bid.
Davronova was the top qualifier in the triple jump, getting out to 13.92m/45-8w (+2.6) in the first round. Conversely, Atkins had a clutch performance on her final attempt to move from 18th to fourth place. She established a new lifetime best of 13.73m/45-0.5 to advance back to her home runway at Hayward Field and with the jump, moved to third on the Ducks' outdoor top-10 list.
Up Next: The Ducks—and their combined 30 national entries—will host the 2026 NCAA Championships (June 10-13) at Hayward Field in Eugene.
