
Birnbaum, McCormick Named Bowerman Semifinalists

The two UO standouts becomes the 27th and 28th semifinalists in program history.
EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon track and field standouts Simeon Birnbaum and Aaliyah McCormick have been named semifinalists for The Bowerman. The women's top-10 list was announced Wednesday followed by the men's list Thursday afternoon. The three finalists for each will be revealed next week.

Named for legendary Oregon head coach Bill Bowerman and first awarded in 2009, The Bowerman is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female performers in collegiate track and field.

Birnbaum is the 12th semifinalist for the Men of Oregon, and first since Cole Hocker in 2021. McCormick becomes the 16th semifinalist for the Women of Oregon, and the third in the past four years.

Additionally, the Big Ten announced its 112th Medal of Honor Class which featured UO senior Matthew Erickson. The award is given annually to one male and one female graduate student-athlete from each conference institution who has demonstrated top athletic and academic achievement. Anna Simmons (lacrosse) was the other Oregon honoree.
