Student Athlete of the Week - Dec. 10 - Dec. 16
Charlie Alexander has been named the GoDucks.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of December 10 - December 16.
Charlie Alexander, a redshirt freshman from Central Point, Oregon, helped the Ducks defeat two top-10 ranked NAIA programs. In his first match against Oklahoma City, Alexander racked up four points via takedowns in the first period, capitalized again in the third period with two more takedowns, an escape and riding time in the final period for a 10-4 win. The evening heavyweight bout between Alexander and 6th-ranked Marcus Moore of Southern Oregon proved the most dramatic with the three regulation periods and six overtime stanzas seeing all of six points scored via escapes (3-3), and the final point awarded to Alexander for his six seconds of riding time. The two wins raise Alexander's individual total to 14 wins and 2 losses on the season.
Oregon will travel to Reno, Nevada this week for the Reno Tournament of Champions and don't return to Eugene until January 11th.

2007-08: Alexander is expected to contend for team's top heavyweight spot with his former Crater High School teammate and classmate Chris Robertson. Prep Asics Second Team All-American.
2006-07: Wrestled nine matches (4-2) at heavyweight, all in the first two weeks of January. Went 4-2 in the Portland State Open in his first collegiate action, including a fall victory in 00:50 vs. Mauro Pernizolo of BMCC, and followed with a 11-1 major decision winning two matches later the same day over Beamer Comfort of Calgary. In the Oregon Classic Open scored three wins, including falls over Mike Weir of Pacific in 1:31 and Zach Smith of Portland State in 4:14.
BEFORE OREGON: Four-time state champion (So. 215, Jr. Hwt. Sr. Hwt.). Went 40-0 as a senior and 34-4 as a junior. Ranked #2 in the nation by Intermat during his senior year. Tabbed an an All-American as a junior in Greco-Roman national tournament, and an All-American as a senior in the freestyle national tournament, and an All-American in the collegiate style tournament and the heavyweight runner-up as a senior. Lettered three years in football, and was a first team all-conference pick as a defensive tackle and offensive guard. Played in state all-star game as senior at defensive tackle. Named Rogue Ecology Student of the Month (for December) as a senior. High School (Coach): Crater '06 (Greg Haga).
