Student Athlete of the Week - Jan. 14 - Jan. 20

Tamika Nurse has been named the GoDucks.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of January 14 - January 20.
Tamika Nurse, a junior guard out of Hamilton, Ontario, helped the Ducks seal a victory over Washington this past weekend at McArthur Court to complete the sweet of the Washington schools. In one of the most exciting Pac-10 conference games this year, Nurse calmly hit two free throws with 6.7 seconds left on the clock giving the Ducks a 66-64 victory over the Huskies. Nurse finished the game with a season high 17 points on 5-12 shooting and a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line. She also had a career high 8 rebounds and matched her career high with 6 assists. On Thursday, she helped the Ducks clinch a 64-45 victory over Washington State with 6 assists.
Nurse will now lead the Ducks on the road as the Ducks face the Southern California and Arizona schools during the next two weeks.

As the returning point guard will have the
responsibility of maintaining the tempo and pace...last year made great
strides and figured significantly in UO’s success at both ends of the
floor...a smart defensive player...is responsible for setting the
defensive tone with ball pressure...is expected to add exciting nuances
to the Ducks up?-tempo style.
SOPHOMORE ? 2006-07
Went
from contributing off the bench as a freshman to leading the team with
1054 minutes played (34 mpg) as a sophomore...played in all 31 games,
starting 30...averaged 9.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 0.8
steals per game...led or shared the team lead in scoring on three
occasions...led or shared the assists’ lead 14 times, totaling 102 on
the year...reached double figures in scoring on 14 different
occasions...against Pac-10 competition, averaged 9.3 points, 1.7
rebounds and 3.0 assists per game...made a team-leading 151 trips to
the free-throw line, converting 120 of those chances (.795)...during a
73-63 victory over USC (2/3), shot 14-of-16 from the stripe, scoring 16
points and adding six rebounds and four assists...the game prior,
scored a career-high 22 points in a victory over UCLA (2/1) on a
10-of-10 performance from the free-throw line...was named Pac-10 Player
of the Week following that weekend’s performance on Feb. 5 ? the only
Duck to receive the honor all season...set a career high with eight
assists in an 86-73 victory over Arizona (1/11)...dished out at least
five assists eight times during the year...played all 40 minutes,
scoring 13 points and going 10-of-12 from the stripe in a 66-55 victory
over Washington State (12/23)...strung together three consecutive
double-figure scoring games in victories over Portland (11/28), Saint
Mary’s (11/30) and Colorado (12/9)...nine times during the year was
perfect from the free throw line...had a valiant 15-point performance
during a 80-70 loss to 11th-ranked Arizona State (1/13)...played a
career-high 43 minutes, scoring 11 points with a game-high (tie) five
assists in a 65-59 loss to Oregon State (1/24)...in the second round of
the WNIT contributed 11 points on 3-of-3 shooting behind the arc while
adding four assists in the 70-54 victory over UC Santa Barbara (3/17).

Defensive Player with Kedzie Gunderson ... played in 28 of 29 games and
appeared in all 18 conference contests ... averaged 3.6 points ... led

points, three assists, 4-of-4 FT in loss vs. UCLA (2/25) ... nine
points, 6-of-8 FT in loss at Washington State (2/18) ... eight points,
three assists in win vs. Arizona (2/9) ... six points, four rebounds,
three assists in loss at No. 15 Stanford (2/2) ... three assists,
4-of-5 FT in win vs. Washington (1/21) ... five points, four assists,
season-high 34 minutes in loss at Arizona (1/14) ... season-high 15
points, 7-of-7 FT in win at Colorado (12/30) ... five points, 29
minutes in loss at USC (12/22) ... team-high (tied) four assists, one
turnover in loss at UCLA (12/20) ... six points, 2-of-2 FG in win at
