Student Athlete of the Week - Feb. 11- Feb. 17

Neena Bryant has been named
the GoDucks.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of February 11 -
February 17.
Neena Bryant, a sophomore from
Bryant and the rest of the Softball club will next travel to Palm Springs for a six game tournament before coming back to Eugene for a home game against Portland State on March 5.

All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention. Owned one of
team’s top combinations of power and speed and immediately staked a
starting role in right field. Ended season in its fifth spot in the
batting lineup, and was the only Duck to have a pair of four-hit games.
Had 13 multiple RBI games, three of which she had four RBIs, and three
more in which she had three RBIs. Ranked top five on team in doubles
(second, 14), home runs (third, 10), slugging percentage (third, .553),
RBIs (third, 46), total bases (third, 104), at-bats (third, 188), hits
(fourth, 58), runs (fourth, 40). Had two six-game hitting streaks
during season, including one to wrap up the Pac-10 season that extended
into the first two games of the NCAA tourney. Had 15 multiple-hit games
during season, including a 4-4 day vs. St. Mary’s (4-4). The other
performance ? the second-most hits in a game in school history ? came
vs. Oregon State (4-4, 1 run, 2 doubles, 1 RBI) and helped UO win the
Civil War season series and clinch the all-sports Civil War trophy for
the athletic department. The week before in mid-April, connected on
UO’s first grand slam of the season in 11-1 win over Portland State.
Added another grand slam in the third inning vs. Arizona State to cap
home slate with a 6-5 win. Other top efforts at the plate came vs.
Siena (3-4, 3 runs, 1 double, 1 triple, 1 home run, 1 RBI), Seton Hall
(2-3, double, walk, 2 RBI), Georgia (2-4, 3 RBI, home run) and a
doubleheader vs. South Dakota State (4-6, 3 runs, 1 RBI, 1 home run),
and back-to-back-game games vs. Oregon State (3-7, 3 RBI, 2 doubles).
Also had homers vs. Syracuse, UCLA, Utah State and Utah Valley State.
Bryant was named the 2005 Player of the Year at El Dorado High School in Placenta, Calif. The four-year letter-winning center fielder also earned first team all-state, all-league and all-county honors. She hit .439 with six doubles, four triples, 19 runs scored and 22 RBI in her senior season. Bryant played for the Corona Angels Gold Club team for four years, highlighted by fifth place finishes in 2004 and 2005. She was selected to the 2006 Junior Women’s Pan American Qualifier.
