2008-09: Saw action in the 1,500 meters and the steeplechase during the outdoor season. Just missed an NCAA regional time in the 1,500 at the Oregon Twilight, where he clocked a personal-best 3:47.83. Ran the mile twice indoors. Four cross country appearances, including team top-six marks at the Mike Hodges Invitational and the Beaver Classic. 2007-08: Three steeplechase races late in the season, including a personal-best 9:18.17 at the Oregon Twilight. Also ran the steeplechase at the Pepsi Twilight and Oregon Relays and made an appearance in the mile at the Oregon Preview. Hit PR in the 1,500 meters in the Oregon-UCLA dual meet (3:51.82). Also ran the 1,500 at the Pre Classic (3:51.83). Did not compete indoors. Wore Oregon singlet for first time in regular season cross country finale, the Beaver Classic, and ranked eighth on unit and 20th overall. Earlier in season, competed in two harrier races unattached - the Willamette Invitational and the Mike Hodges Invitational. Season Bests: Outdoors - 1,500 Meters - 3:51.82, UCLA Dual, Eugene, Ore. (4/19/08); 3,000 Meter Steeplechase - 9:18.17, Oregon Twilight, Eugene, Ore. (5/9/08).
2006-07: Redshirted. On track, raced unattached in the 1,500 meters in four meets, with his last two races faster than his preseason best. Did not compete indoors. In the fall, competed unattached in two cross country races, the Willamette Invitational and Mike Hodges Invitational. Season Bests: Outdoors - 1,500 Meters - 3:54.32, Willamette Last Chance Meet, Salem, Ore. (5/16/07).
Before Oregon: USA Junior Championships qualifier at 1,500 Meters. As a sophomore at Sacramento State in 2006, ranked first and second on the team in the 1,500 meters (3:55.91) and 800 meters (1:57.71), respectively. Those marks came at the end of March in his 2006 event debuts in the Northridge Relays and Hornet Invitational. Altogether in 2006, competed nine times in the 800 meters (5) and 1,500 meters (4). Indoors as a sophomore, raced in the 800 meters, 1,000 meters and mile. In the fall of 2005, ran in cross country team’s top seven in all six meets. Ranked second on team in the Stanford Invitational and Aggie Open (22nd, 27:19.8) and third in the Big Sky Championships and NCAA West Regional. As a freshman, capped season in the 2005 USA Junior Outdoor Championships in the 1,500 meters (17th, 4:12.40) - one of 12 outdoor races. Won the Causeway Dual 1,500 meters with a season-best 3:58.30 to earn USA junior invitation and ranked first on the team at season’s end. Was within .42 seconds of that clocking in two of the next three meets - the Golden Bear Invitational (third, 3:58.72) and Sacramento State Open (sixth, 3:58.62). Stood second on team outdoors in the 800 meters with season best from Sacramento State Open (1:58.71). Indoors as a freshman, raced the mile three times. In cross country in 2004, competed in six meets, and finished top three on the squad in three contests. Sacramento State Bests: 800 Meters - 1:57.71 (2006); 1,500 Meters - 3:55.91 (2006).
Prep: Competed in the state class IV cross country championships as a senior and sophomore and helped Bishop O’Dowd High School to 13th- and 12th-place finishes, respectively. Owned prep track bests of 1:59 and 4:23 in the 800 meters and 1,600 meters. Won the HAAL league title as a senior in the 800 meters and 1,600 meters and finished second in the North Coast Section Championships in both events. Was an HAAL all-league selection as a junior and senior in both track and cross country. His team won the Hayward Area Athletic League title all four seasons. Also competed in football, basketball and soccer.
