LAST WEEK FOR THE DUCKS
Oregon went 0-1-1 last week in home matches against No. 21 Oklahoma State and SMU. In Friday's overtime loss, OSU's Whitney Wernimont scored on a free kick in the 104th minute of play for the sudden-death victory. The match went scoreless through the first 103 minutes of action, before a foul on Oregon resulted in a free kick for the Cowgirls just outside the 18-yard box. Wernimont hit the free kick by UO junior goalkeeper Cody Miles into the left-hand side-netting for the game-winner. Miles had seven saves in playing the duration of the match for UO. She faced 17 shots on the night, eight of which were on goal.
In Sunday's match against SMU, Oregon out-shot the Mustangs 22-3 but couldn't find the back of the net in battling to a scoreless draw. Senior forward Jen Stoltenberg recorded a team-best eight shots, one on goal. Seven other UO players registered at least one shot, with senior midfielder Kirstie Kuhns and sophomore midfielder Julie Armstrong tallying three shots apiece. Oregon's three back defenders - senior Bree Rowe, junior Taylor Jones and sophomore Lauren Thompson - played the full match in helping the Ducks to their second shutout in three contests. Junior goalkeeper Lindsay Parlee recorded her first shutout as a Duck in making her season-debut, saving two shots in playing all 110 minutes.
