02/27/11 | Men's Tennis
SEATTLE – The Oregon men's tennis team finished its non-conference trip to Seattle on a disappointing note as it dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 72 San Francisco on Saturday.
The loss drops the Ducks to 8-4 in the dual season.
Alex Rovello and Baptiste Faynot accounted for the Ducks' points in the dual at No. 1 and 3 singles, respectively. No. 120 Rovello dispatched the Dons' Ola Bakke in straight sets with a 6-4, 7-6 victory to improve 14-7 on the season and 8-3 in dual play. Faynot picked up his 13th singles victory (seventh dual) of the year with a three-set win over William Schumacher (6-7, 7-5, [10-7])
UO and USF played a competitive doubles point with the Ducks getting an 8-6 win out of No. 2 pairing Aaron Clissold and Douglas Mayeda, who defeated Mark DeCastro and Richard Bucalem. However, Rovello and Robin Cambier fell at No. 1 doubles to William Schumaker and Germain Bahri, 8-4, and UO's third pairing of Faynot and Jose Izquierdo dropped an 8-5 decision to Bakke and Jacob Hartwig.
Three of San Francisco's four singles wins were in straight sets.
The Ducks are off until March 12 when they return home to face in-state foe Portland.
