EUGENE, Ore. - Six Ducks came away with event wins, Friday night in Corvallis, Ore., at the OSU High Performance track and field meet during a two-week stretch close to home for Oregon, with the Oregon Twilight on the horizon, May 8.
Ryan Hunter-Simms had a big day with a pair of personal bests and an event win. The junior won the discus with a throw of 179-10.25/54.81m, over five meters farther than second place. Hunter-Simms' day started in the shot put where he crossed the 60-foot barrier for the first time, throwing a personal best of 60-0.50/18.30m for a third-place finish. He is the first Duck to break 60-feet since Dusty Carlson did so in 1996.
