Everett Named Pac-12 Player of the Week
09/18/18 | Women's Soccer
EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon senior forward Marissa Everett was named Pac-12 offensive player of the week on Tuesday after scoring three goals over the past weekend to lead the Ducks to victories over Portland and Idaho.
Everett tied the Portland game at 1-1 on a penalty kick in the 60th minute, before teammate Chardonnay Curran scored the game-winner in the 79th minute.
The Ducks defeated Portland for the first time since the soccer program was restored to the varsity level in 1996. The Ducks were 0-16 against the Pilots heading into Friday's match.
Everett then scored both goals in Oregon's 2-0 defeat of Idaho on Sunday. She scored the game-winner in the 11th minute and got her second goal of the match in the 35th minute.
The senior from Canyon Lake, Calif., moved into sole possession of sixth place in UO history with her 15th career goal, and third in game-winning goals with eight. She has 40 career points, also sixth in UO history.
Everett is the second Duck to be named Pac-12 offensive player of the week this season. Emma Eddy was honored on Sept. 4.
Freshman Hannah Taylor was nominated for defensive player of the week, while senior Halla Hinriksdottir was nominated for goalkeeper of the week.
Oregon opens Pac-12 play by hosting Utah Friday at 7 p.m. at Pape' Field.
