Weekend Wrap | Cougar Classic, UW Preview - University of Oregon Athletics

EUGENE, Ore. – Between the Cougar Classic and UW Preview, the Oregon track and field team opened its 2023 indoor season with 19 top-three finishes including four wins, collectively, and a school-record showing by Jorinde Van Klinken in the women's shot put. At weekend's end, the Ducks had posted 13 marks ranked inside the top 30 nationally.

Oregon also tallied six top-10 program times and measures. Among those efforts, freshman Aaliyah McCormick—one of nine Ducks making their UO debuts last weekend—became the fifth-fastest UO woman in the 60-meter hurdles (full list below).

Jadyn Mays, third at 60 meters at last year's NCAA Championships, was a double winner at the season-opening Cougar Classic with victories in the 60 and 200 meters. Her time in the 200 (23.18) is currently second in the NCAA. Micah Williams posted a time of 6.54—his ninth 6.55 or faster mark—took the top spot in the men's 60 meters while Van Klinken led a 1-2-5 finish at the UW Preview in Seattle.

At the end of the qualifying window, the top 16 declared athletes in each event and top 12 relays will advance to the NCAA Indoor Championships (March 10-11) in Albuquerque, N.M. The 2023 campaign continues with the Texas Tech Open & Multis (Jan. 26-28) in Lubbock, Texas, and UW Invitational (Jan. 27-28) in Seattle.
