THE DUCKS vs. THE TROJANS
Oregon and USC will meet for the 14th time in the two programs' histories. The Trojans have had the best of the series as of late, capturing victory in the last six matchups. The last Duck victory in the series came in 2018, when Oregon defeated No. 16 USC, 18-11. The Trojans are 7-2 this season and are the only remaining team undefeated in Pac-12 play under 11th-year head coach Lindsey Munday.
OREGON FALLS IN THE DESERT
The Ducks once again faced an uphill battle in their 12-9 defeat to Arizona State. After falling behind 4-0 in the first period, the Oregon offense found a spark for five goals in the second but still trailed 8-5 entering the half. Despite rallying to tie the game in the third period, end-of-quarter lapses plagued the Duck defense in the eventual loss.
» Graduate student Logan Gierke started her 60th career game for Oregon.
» Freshman Jenae Sperling scored her first career goal in the Ducks' five-goal second period
» Gabby Cleveland paced the Oregon offense with her fifth multi-goal game of the season.
MORGAN IN THE MIDDLE
A focal point of the Oregon attack, junior and team captain Morgan McCarthy is having a strong 2023 campaign. The midfielder became the first Duck at the position to take home All-Pac 12 honors after receiving second-team recognition last year. McCarthy has 18 goals through the first seven games this season.
» Leads Oregon with 19 goals, 21 points and 20 draw controls.
» Currently carries a 19-game scoring streak, totaling 39 goals in the stretch.
» Became the 10th player in UO history with 50 goals and 100 draw controls in a career on March 3 against Navy.
