Oregon Gears Up For Meeting With UC Davis

EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon is back at Papé Field for its final nonconference clash of the year on Saturday against UC Davis.
The Ducks look to replicate their early nonconference success in preparation for the final stretch of the 2023 season.

THE DUCKS vs. THE AGGIES
Oregon and UC Davis will meet for the 23rd time before the Aggies join the Pac-12 conference next season. The Ducks lead the all-time series 14-8 but have lost five consecutive to UC Davis dating back to 2019. The Aggies are 7-3 in 2023 and are led by head coach Suzanne Isidor in her sixth season.
DUCKS DROP OVERTIME THRILLER
After overcoming a five-goal deficit and taking the lead with minutes remaining in the fourth, Oregon could not close out its matchup with Colorado. Gabby Cleveland led the way for the Oregon offense after scoring five goals for the second time in conference play. Eight UO players contributed to the Ducks' goal-scoring efforts in the loss.
» Oregon finished with a 20-13 advantage in draw controls, the most in a game for the Ducks since Feb. 16, 2020, at Stetson.
» Junior Madysn Sweeney scored her first career hat trick against the Buffaloes.
» Senior Bailey Smith and junior Haley Cummins became the fifth and sixth UO players with multi-assist games this season after the pair finished with two assists apiece.
SOPHOMORE SURGE
After losing 110 goals from last year's offense, Oregon turned to a young core for an attacking boost. The Ducks have found production from a trio of sophomores who have helped facilitate the offense this season.
» Gabby Cleveland leads the Ducks team in goals (24) and points (25). The Charlotte, N.C. native has two games with five goals, including a career-high six goals on March 19, against then No. 18 Stanford, and a five-goal performance on April 1, against Colorado. Cleveland is tied for third in the Pac-12 with 16 goals in conference play.
» Lauren Rismani ranks third on the team in points (20) and paces the Ducks with 14 assists, the most by an Oregon player in a season since 2019. The Denver native opened the season with six consecutive multi-point games and has five multi-assist games, including two with three.
» Haley Taylor is second on the Ducks in assists and joint third in goals with nine in each category for a fourth-best 18 points for Oregon. Taylor became just the third Duck and first Oregon player since 2021 to bring home Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honors after starting her first career game on Feb. 26, against Kennesaw State. The Sandy, Utah native finished with her first career hat trick and multi-assist game for five points.
SENIOR SERVICE
A contingent of upperclassmen anchor the Oregon defense. Three graduate students and one senior have combined for 34 starts throughout the 2023 season.
» Graduate student Logan Gierke has started all 62 games played in her UO career and earned the first Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week award for any Oregon defender since joining the conference. On Feb. 14, the captain caused four turnovers and picked up five ground balls in a victory over Xavier. Gierke leads all UO players with 10 caused turnovers.
» Graduate transfer Margot Hotham has started every game for the Ducks after spending her first four seasons at Temple. The Pennsylvania native is second on the team in caused turnovers (6) and secured her first career game with multiple draw controls against Colorado.
» Senior Lexie Likins has started every game and has the third most starts among current Ducks with 29. The captain scooped up a career-best four ground balls on Feb. 26, against Kennesaw State and is tied for the team lead in the category with 14.
» Graduate transfer Maggie Flynn has gotten a starting nod in the Ducks' last four games. Flynn was a second-team All-Atlantic 10 and team captain after starting 32 games at Duquesne.
