DMR Breaks School Record
01/26/24 | Track and Field
The Razorback Invitational continues Saturday at 8 a.m. (PT).
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The UO track and field team closed day one of the Razorback Invitational with a school-record performance in the distance-medley relay. The team of Klaudia Kazimierska, Ella Clayton, Ella Nelson and Maddy Elmore combined for a time of 10:47.50, nearly two seconds clear of runner-up Arkansas.
The Ducks also added top-10 program marks from Gianna Bullock in the pentathlon, Emily Fitzsimmons in the pole vault and Taylor Chocek in the high jump.
With Friday night's school record, the DMR quartet surpassed the previous mark of 10:48.77 set by Lilli Burdon, Ashante Horsley, Raevyn Rogers and Katie Rainsberger in 2017. Kazimierska, Clayton, Nelson and Elmore also become the second-fastest team in NCAA history, and break the Razorback Invitational meet and Randal Tyson Track Center facility records.
Bullock tallied indoor bests in four of five events Friday on the way to 3,960 points in the Ducks' first pentathlon of the season. She replaces her previous best of 3,823 points from a season ago and goes from No. 8 to 5 on the program's top-10 list. Along with her overall total, Bullock established lifetime bests in the high jump, shot put, long jump and 800 meters.
Also competing in the pentathlon, Chocek cleared 1.75m/5-8.75 during the high jump which ties the eighth-best clearance in UO history. The Eugene native finished the afternoon with 4,067 points, just eight shy of her lifetime best. The Oregon pair finished sixth and 10th, respectively, in the competition.
Fitzsimmons delivered a clutch third-attempt clearance of 4.08m/13-4.5 to crack the Oregon top 10, moving into a tie for eighth on the list. Friday marked just the second indoor meet for Fitzsimmons in the Oregon kit having cleared 3.85 meters two weeks ago at the UW Preview. The UO top-10 list in the pole vault had stood unchanged since the 2014 season.
The first Duck in action Friday was Jett Kinder in the heptathlon. He finished day one with 3,093 points and sits in sixth place entering Saturday's three events. Among his day-one efforts, Kinder posted a new lifetime best of 7.18m/23-6.75 in the long jump.
Up Next: The Razorback Invitational continues Saturday at 8 a.m. (PT), beginning with the heptathlon 60-meter hurdles. Field events start at 10 a.m. with the women's shot put. The SEC Network+ stream starts at 9 a.m.
