Aparisi, Symons Pick Up Wins at ITA Regionals

BERKELEY, Calif. – On the third day of the ITA Northwest Regionals, Candela Aparisi and Olivia Symons each earned singles victories in the consolation bracket Sunday at Hellman Tennis Complex.
Both Aparisi and Symons earned their second singles wins of the weekend, as Aparisi got past Olaya Bancas Iglesias of San Jose State, 6-2, 6-3. Symons' opponent, Sacramento State's Emilija Pranyte, retired due to injury after Symons led the match 5-2 in the first set.
After winning Saturday, Karin Young was knocked out of the consolation bracket by Washington's McKenna Koenig, as the conference rival earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory Sunday.
Aparisi is scheduled to play Palina Saulevich from Sacramento State in the consolation bracket's round of 16 on Monday. Symons' opponent is yet to be determined.
On the doubles side, Marjorie Souza and Julia Visaya are slated to play Stanford's Chidimma Okpara and Morgan Shaffer on Monday in the consolation quarterfinals.
