Early Goals Too Much to Overcome

LUBBOCK, Texas – Oregon yielded two goals early and fell to Texas Tech, 5-1, Thursday at John Walker Soccer Complex.
Taylor Bryan scored in the 69th minute for the Ducks.
How It Happened: Texas Tech (5-2) scored twice in the opening five minutes of the game. Mary Blackburn found the net for the Red Raiders in the fourth minute. Just 78 seconds later, Ashleigh Williams staked Texas Tech to a 2-0 lead.
Storie Sexton, Skylar Hasse and Kaitlyn Giametta also scored in the first half for the Red Raiders.
Bryan got Oregon (3-3) on the scoreboard with the only goal of the second half. In one motion, the Brooklyn, N.Y., native tackled the ball away from a Red Raider defender and rose up firing from distance to score her second goal of the season. She led Oregon with two shots.
Cameron Bourne just missed scoring a goal in her third straight match when her attempt in the final minutes of the match struck the left goalpost.
Notable: Bryan's goal was the first allowed by Texas Tech at home this season. … Freshman Carly Cormack made her first career start. … This was the first match between Oregon and Texas Tech.
Up Next: Oregon hosts Sacramento State in the nonconference finale Sunday at 1 p.m. (B1G+).
