Ducks Travel to Indiana, Notre Dame

THIS WEEK
No. 5 Oregon heads to the state of Indiana for its final regular season road trip. The Ducks will play a three-game set at Indiana beginning on Friday (B1G+). Oregon will then head up to Chicagoland for a nonconference game at Notre Dame Monday evening (ESPN+). This will be the Ducks' first trips to Bloomington and South Bend.
GREIN 'TRIPLES' AS NATIONAL POTW
After throwing a complete-game shutout against No. 6 UCLA as part of a 3-0 week, Lyndsey Grein was named the national player of the week by the NFCA, Softball America and D1 Softball. In four games, Grein had a 0.00 ERA and struck out 18 in 13.1 innings, She beat UCLA twice and Oregon State once.

41-5 - Oregon's 41-5 record is tied for the program's best ever through 46 games.

GREIN EARNS NATIONAL, BIG TEN HONORS AGAIN
For posting a 3-0 record and a 0.00 ERA that included two wins and a complete-game shutout against No. 6 UCLA, Lyndsey Grein won three national Pitcher of the Week awards - NFCA, Softball America and D1 Softball - and was also named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week. Grein led No. 5 Oregon to a series victory against No. 6 UCLA, as well as a midweek win in the Rivalry Series at Oregon State. For the week, Grein struck out 18 batters, walked five and allowed nine hits in 13.1 innings. Opponents hit .196 against her. In the rubber game of the UCLA series on April 21, Grein pitched a three-hit, five-inning shutout and struck out three. The Ducks won 9-0 to take a one-game lead for first place in the Big Ten Conference. It was the first time the Bruins were shutout this season. In the series opener on April 18, Grein threw 5.1 scoreless innings and struck out eight in the Ducks' 3-1 win. In the Ducks' midweek game at Oregon State, Grein threw the final two innings and struck out five in the Ducks' come-from-behind, 5-3 win. Grein has yet to allow a run to a top-25 opponent this season (six games, 28.0 innings). In the last game against UCLA, she recorded her 400th career strikeout.
TWO STOLEN BASE RECORDS FALL
Two program season stolen base records have fallen this season. The Ducks now have 145 steals as a team (previous record: 126, 2007). Kai Luschar now has 48 stolen bases (previous record: 41 by Suzie Barnes, 2007). Luschar is third on the Big Ten single-season list - four out of second and 11 back of first. As a team, the Ducks are third on the Big Ten top 10 list. Luschar has 96 career steals and is tied for second on the Ducks' career top 10 list.

The Ducks are 14th nationally in home runs with 67 and 11th nationally in RBI (320).
LEADERS OF THE PACK
The Ducks rank in the Big Ten's top five in 11 different offensive categories. Oregon is pacing the league in steals, steals per game and sacrifice flies. The Ducks are third in walks and fourth hits home runs, on-base percentage, RBI, scoring and triples.
SISTER ACT
Starting outfielders Kai Luschar (LF) and Kedre Luschar (CF) have combined for 110 hits, 86 runs and 71 stolen bases. Kedre leads the team in doubles (13) and batting average (.465). Kai leads the NCAA with a program-record 48 steals. Both are seniors, though Kai, a fifth-year senior, is a year older.

Lyndsey Grein hasn't allowed a run in 28.0 innings against NFCA Top 25 competition this season. Most recently, she became the first pitcher to shutout No. 6 UCLA this season when she threw a 9-0 three-hitter against the Bruins April 20. She also threw 5.1 scoreless inning against UCLA in the series opener on April 18. Earlier this season, She tossed a one-hitter vs. Florida State (3/7) and she kept No. 5 Tennessee, No. 22 Missouri and No. 25 San Diego State off the board at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. Grein is 5-0 versus the Top 25 with 33 strikeouts, 12 hits and 12 walks.

Defense has been a hallmark of coach Melyssa Lombardi's program since day one. The Ducks are second in the Big Ten and fifth nationally in fielding at .982. Last season, the Ducks were again one of the best defensive teams in the nation. The Ducks were 24th nationally and fourth in the Pac-12 and in fielding percentage (.974). In 2022, Oregon led the Pac-12 and ranked 10th nationally with a .977 fielding percentage. That mark tied the program record set the year before (2021).
