Ducks Head North to Take on Huskies

EUGENE, Ore. – After splitting a pair of home matches last weekend, the Oregon women's tennis team heads north for a Big Ten match against rival No. 21 Washington on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Bill Quillian Tennis Stadium.

The Ducks picked up their first conference win last Friday over Indiana, winning a tiebreaker in the third set of the final singles by Juliet Santitto for a dramatic 4-3 victory. UO clinched the doubles point in both matches last weekend, but dropped an equally close match to Purdue on Sunday where the Boilermakers won a third-set tiebreaker to pull out a 4-3 win.
Eight of Oregon's first nine Big Ten opponents have been ranked in the ITA's top 75, including 21st-ranked Washington on Saturday. The Huskies have won five straight matches and are led by the nation's 110th-ranked player in Reece Carter. Carter and double partner Alexia Jacobs make up the No. 51 doubles team in the country.
Tilde Jagare, playing at No. 3 in the lineup, is off to a 9-3 start this spring to lead the team, while freshman Patsy Daughters also has nine wins (9-5). Jagare and Santitto have primarily played at the top doubles spot in the lineup, picking up five victories including Sunday against Purdue.
Senior Karin Young owns seven singles wins with freshman Bridget Mihulka next with four. During doubles action, Mihulka and Young have gone 4-3 this spring after a 6-1 win against Indiana on Friday.
The Ducks are 13-42 all-time against Washington, last winning during the 2022 season with a 4-0 sweep.
