In 2007-08, returns for third season with Duck varsity unit, and could compete in 1,500, 5,000 and 10,000 meters on the track. Ran Pac-10 Cross Country Championships in 2005 with his twin brother Carlos. The duo joined the UO varsity cross country squad in the fall of 2005, and ran in the Duck top nine in all three of their contests that season. Attended University of Oregon two years prior and trained with the campus-affiliated UO Running Club under former legendary Oregon women's coach Tom Heinonen. As a prep, was a multiple Idaho state track qualifier, and also ran in the state cross country final twice. The pair of twins are one of three sets on the distance unit.
Fall 2007: Ran two cross country events for UO, the Beaver Classic (seventh overall, 24:38) and Mike Hodges Invitational (20th, 4 miles20:09). Opened fall as unattached entrant and finished top five in the Willamette Invitational (fourth, 24:07).
2006-07: On the track, ran four contests for Ducks outdoors in 1,500m (2), 3,000m and 5,000m and turned in personal bests at each distance. In fall, raced twice for team in cross country. Led UO harrier entries in Willamette Invitational (11th, 24:45), and raced two weeks later in the Mike Hodges Invitational (12th, 19:41). 2005-06: In outdoor track and field, competed in six meets for Ducks in his debut collegiate season. Indoors, competed twice for UO in 3,000 meters after he joined the team the previous fall. In cross country, competed in three varsity races in his first varsity season for UO. Ranked seventh on squad in his collegiate debut in the Pier Park Preview (seventh overall, 20:59). Stood eighth on team in the Willamette Invitational (53rd, 25:18) and ninth on unit in Pac-10 Championships (66th, 26:43). Personal/Season Bests: 1,500m ? 4:00.16 (then-PR), Western Oregon Twilight, Monmouth, Ore. (4/28/06); 5,000m ? 15:06.30 (then-PR), Stanford Invitational, Stanford, Calif. (3/31/06); Indoors ? 3,000m ? 8:43.59, Husky Collegiate Invitational, Seattle, Wash. (2/11/06).
Before Oregon: Competed for campus UO Running Club, and trained under former Duck women's coach Tom Heinonen. Started training with club in May 2004, and also ran with group for 2004-05 season. Owned track bests during that stint of 2:07.55 (800), 4:05.47 (1,500) and 9:09.53 (3,000).
Prep: Three-year qualifier for state 3A track and field meet, and competed in 1,600 as a senior, the 4x400 and sprint medley relay as a junior, and 800 as a sophomore. In state cross country finales, took 23rd as a sophomore and 18th as a junior. Four-year letterwinner in track and twice in cross country. Also lettered two seasons as a defender in soccer.
