Returns for senior season in 2006 and leads Duck returnees in the high jump with collegiate best of 7-1 3/4, just shy of his prep best (7-2). Ranks fifth all-time for Oregon in high jump with his sophomore best (7-1 3/4) - only a quarter-inch from fourth and 2 1/2 inches from third.
2004-05: Pac-10 Scorer (High Jump). Overcame injury late in season to score in Pac-10 Championships high jump for second straight season, thanks to two-inch season best (sixth, 6-10 3/4). Outdoors, cleared 6-6 3/4 or better in first six meets of season, including three at 6-8 3/4 or better. Ended outdoor season ranked in a tie for 46th nationally and 12th regionally. Indoors, cleared seven feet in two of final three appearances of season, including the Holiday Inn Invitational (second, 7-0 1/2) and Mountain Pacific Championships (second, 7-0 1/4). Personal/Seasonal Bests: Outdoors ? High Jump ? 2.10m (6-10 3/4), Pacific-10 Championships, Los Angeles (5/14/05). Indoors ? High Jump ? 2.15m (7-0 1/2), Holiday Inn Invitational, Boise, Idaho (2/11/05).
2003-2004: NCAA Qualifier (High Jump). Emerged as national-caliber high jumper and debuted in the NCAA Championships outdoors (15th-prelims, 7-0 1/4) - and one bar short (7-1 1/2) of advancing to final. Earned postseason bid thanks to his third-place tie in the West Regional Championships (7-1) at end of May in Northridge, Calif. Two weeks earlier, contributed Pac-10 points in league debut (fourth, 6-11 3/4) to teams runners-up. Overall, high jumped in nine meets on the season, and cleared 7-0 four times, including wins in the Pepsi Invite (7-1 3/4) - where he fell just 1/4 short of his personal best - and the Oregon Invitational (7-0 1/2). Ended outdoor slate ranked third in Pac-10, fourth in region, 18th (tie) nationally 38th (tie) in the U.S. based on outdoor season bests. Set indoor personal bests twice with wins in the Bodybuilding.com Invitational (7-0 1/2) in January, and the Iowa State Classic (7-1 1/2) in February. His season best was only 3/4 inches and two centimeters shy of earning an NCAA invite. Personal/Seasonal Bests: Outdoor - High Jump - 2.18m (7-1 3/4), Pepsi Team Invite, Eugene (4/10/04). Indoor - High Jump - 2.17m (7-1 1/2) (PR), Iowa State Classic, Ames, Iowa (2/14/04).
2002-03: Pac-10 & Regional Qualifier (High Jump). As freshman, led Ducks in West Regional (ninth, 6-8) and missed NCAA invite by four places and 3 3/4 inches. Was arguably team’s most consistent high jumper in second half of season, and posted marks of 6-6 3/4 or higher in his last six meets of the outdoor campaign. Cleared season best in the Oregon Twilight (second, 6-9 1/2) in early May with his second-best mark a week later in the Cardinal Invitational (second, 6-8 3/4). Personal/Seasonal Bests: Outdoor - High Jump - 2.07m (6-9 1/2), Oregon Twilight (5/3/03). Indoor - High Jump - 2.00m (6-6 3/4), Bodybuilding.com Invite, Nampa, Idaho (2/1/03).
Prep: Texas state runner-up as senior in 2002 (second, 6-10), and took fourth as junior in 2001 while he competed with a hernia injury suffered the week before in the region meet. Finished career as four-time district champion, and regional winner as junior and senior with region record (7-1) as junior. Competed in Texas Relays as senior (second, 6-10) and junior (fourth, 6-9), in Golden West Invite as junior (third, 6-10), and in Nike Indoor Champs (third). Clocked impressive 800 best of 1:56 as a senior, and lettered three seasons in cross country with a 5K best of 16:48. High School (Coach): Mansfield ?02 (Benny Ellison).
